The food industry has always remained one of the most exciting domains for small, medium as well as large scale business, including food chains, restaurants, hotels, milk products, importers-exporters, resellers, packagers, and many more. Being compliant with the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) and securing a license to do business is one of the first steps to build your food business.
FSSAI license is of various types and getting one depends on the revenue of your business and area of functioning.
District License: This license will be required by food businesses that produce an annual turnover of less than Rs. 12 Lakh.
Single State Restaurants, Hotels and Food Manufacturers: This license will be required by food businesses that produce an annual turnover of more than Rs. 12 Lakh but less than Rs. 20 Crore.
Central License: This license will be required by food enterprises or businesses that produce an annual turnover of more than Rs. 20 Crore. When business enterprises desire to run food businesses in more than one state, then this license has to be obtained.
The procurement of the license takes about 30 days for the basic and state license.
